Reverse payment settlement bill introduced in U.S. House of Representatives

On March 25 2009 a bill (H.R. 1706) proposing a Protecting Consumer Access to Generic Drugs Act of 2009 was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The bill would prohibit reverse payment agreements and settlements of patent infringement disputes between branded and generic drug markers. Violations of the proposed act would be enforced by the FTC under Section 5 of the FTC Act.
